Komandoo Maldives has introduced the new Executive Chef of the resort, Riccardo Rizzoli, whose passion for cuisine and excellent guest feedback are already a telltale sign of the outstanding dining experience of Komandoo.

Originally from Piedmont in the north-west of Italy, where gastronomy and oenology are a passion, Riccardo brings a wealth of experience to Komandoo. He gained his first insights into the wonderful world of gastronomy at the early age of 12 when he started helping out at his father’s restaurant.

After his education in Genoa, his professional path led him from San Francisco and Sardinia to Milan, Maryland, Monte Carlo and Colombo, where he collaborated with the world’s oldest and largest gastronomic society, Chaîne des Rôtisseurs. He has been based in the Maldives for the last nine years, so he is certainly not new to the Maldivian industry.

Riccardo is a strong advocate of fresh, homegrown food, and makes full use of Komandoo’s greenhouse that produces basil, lemongrass, mint, spinach and rocket, along with other vegetables, herbs and spices that are also grown on the island.

Riccardo and his team’s culinary creations can be enjoyed at Aqua and Falhu restaurants, beach dinners and as in-villa service at Komandoo. Riccardo has already made several fantastic improvements to the Falhu buffet, where daily even more diverse choices of cuisine are available and he is currently working on a new menu for the Aqua restaurant as well.

Komandoo is situated in the Lhaviyani Atoll, a scenic 40-minute seaplane experience from Velana International Airport, Male’. Coupling the beauty of the Maldives with the charm of a small resort, Komandoo Maldives is custom-made for romance and is an exclusive ‘adults only’ resort in the Maldives.
