[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Adaaran Resorts has held a function to award the top employees from the properties the brand currently operates in the Maldives. The best employees from the respective resorts were; Peththa Handige Pragnasena – Adaaran Prestige Vaadoo; Mohamed Ali – Adaaran Select Meedhupparu; Hussain Ameen Abdulla – Adaaran Select Hudhuranfush; and Hassan Waleed – Adaaran Club Rannalhi. The awards were given away by Ibrahim Mohamed Didi, the Chairman of SIMDI Group and Director of Cowrie Investments. Cowrie Investments is the head leaseholder for two of the properties currently managed by Adaaran in the Maldives.

The evening’s programme was introduced by Hemantha Ratnayake, Director Product Development, which was followed by the awarding of the batch who successfully completed the Adaaran ‘Kurimagu’ Management Training Programme. While the programme began with nine participants, only seven were able to successfully complete the 15-month training that included both theoretical and practical modules at Adaaran Resorts. In his introduction, Hemantha Ratnayake highlighted the many aspects of the hospitality industry to which the students were exposed to during the program.

“During the 15 month period, participants of the programme were exposed to the many diverse aspects of the hospitality industry. The purpose of this was to expose them to the many challenges they will be facing when working in the industry,” said Ratnayake. “Apart from getting firsthand experience of the various departments of a hotel, they also had knowledge sharing sessions with the Chief Operating Officer and the executive management team of Adaaran.”

Ratnayake’s remarks were followed by the awarding of certificates to participants who successfully completed the first Adaaran Kurimagu Management Training Programme. Certificates were handed over to the successful participants by Dr Mariyam Shakeela, CEO of SIMDI Group.

The participants who successfully completed the program and were awarded on Monday night were; Shazeem Ali, Bassam Abdul Razzaq, Ahmed Sofwan, Ibrahim Gashshaan, Aishath Sama Waheed, Ahmed Shahudh, Mohamed Nooman, Chelliah Subramanian, Ajnin Reji, L.P.V. Praveen, Vikash Kumar and Nilesh Sharma.

Addressing the gathering later, Dr Shakeela expressed her gratitude to Adaaran and Aitken Spence – Sri Lanka based company that owns the Adaaran Brand. She also advised the successful participants to always think big and attempt the impossible, without hesitating to be daring and be different.

“The number of girls graduating are so much less,” Dr Shakeela went on to say. “The societal norms and societal attitudes in South Asia discourage women to be engaged in the hospitality industry.”

She highlighted the need for girls to not let this stop them from entering the industry, further noting that to achieve perfection in any endeavour you need the contribution of both boys and girls, men and women. She also called upon Adaaran to do whatever possible to get more girls to take an interest in the hospitality industry as their contribution was essential.

The evening also saw a video presentation on the Adaaran Kurimagu programme and remarks by senior management of Adaaran. The vote of thanks was delivered by Shazeem Ali, one of the successful participants of the programme. The evening concluded with a ‘fellowship dinner’ where family members of the successful participants were present along with senior management of Adaaaran.

Adaaran currently operates four properties in the Maldives; Adaaran Prestige Vaadoo, Adaaran Select Hudhuranfushi, Adaaran Club Rannalhi and Adaaran Select Meedhupparu. Aitken Spence is also in the process of opening a new property later this year; Heritance Aarah, located in Raa Atoll, in the north of the archipelago, about 40 minutes by seaplane from Velana International Airport.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
